There are reports in Italy that Juventus have hijacked Fiorentina’s proposed move for Manchester United’s Dimitar Berbatov.

The Viola had seemingly wrapped up a deal for the Bulgarian striker who was expected in Florence this afternoon.

However, Berbatov had still not arrived at the club’s headquarters at 2.30pm local time which led to stories that he may have changed his mind.

According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, Juve could have made a late bid to sign the Old Trafford man as they look for a new striker.

Other sources are speculating that Juventus have offered the 31-year-old a higher salary than the Tuscan club – around €1m more a season.

The Italian champions have been after a new striker for most of the summer after missing out on Arsenal’s Robin Van Persie who eventually joined United.
