Juventus have picked up 15 yellow cards in their opening five matches of the season, the highest amount in Serie A in relation to the number of fouls committed.
Page three of today’s Tuttosport details how the Bianconeri have been awarded a joint high 15 yellow cards in the opening five rounds of fixtures, the same amount as Genoa and Salernitana, two teams who have committed slightly more fouls.
When looking at the number of fouls committed, Juventus stand out, being given a yellow card every 3.9 fouls on average. Other top clubs sit far behind, including Milan with a booking every 4.4 fouls, Inter with a yellow card every 8.3 fouls and Atalanta with a booking for every 10.8 fouls.
Whilst it’s impossible to quantify the nature of the fouls committed, indications do suggest that Juventus are being treated slightly more harshly than their rivals at the top of the table. It may also be something Massimiliano Allegri needs to address with his defensive tactics.
