Not only has Maurizio Sarri been sacked, but Chief Football Officer Fabio Paratici is also potentially on the chopping block at Juventus, claim Sky Sport Italia.

Sarri’s dismissal was announced this afternoon, with Mauricio Pochettino in pole position to replace him on the bench.

Last night’s Round of 16 Champions League elimination at the hands of Lyon proved fatal for Sarri’s tenure, along with losing the Italian Supercup to Lazio and Coppa Italia Final to Napoli.

Winning a ninth consecutive Scudetto was not enough, especially as all their statistics deteriorated considerably from previous years in the run, from points to wins, goals scored and conceded.

According to Sky Sport Italia and others, Sarri isn’t the only one who could be axed at the Continassa HQ.

Paratici is also taking a large share of the blame for the failure of the Sarri project, particularly as he and vice-president Pavel Nedved had pushed President Andrea Agnelli to get rid of Max Allegri last summer.

Paratici then did not provide the strength in depth required, nor players suited to Sarri’s style of football.

He had been director of sport, taking over as CFO after Beppe Marotta was surprisingly let go last year, moving on to a job at rivals Inter, but this hasn’t gone as planned.

Now Sky Sport Italia are pointing to promotion for Federico Cherubini, who is currently Paratici’s understudy as Head of football teams and technical areas.

President Agnelli did specifically name-check Paratici, Nedved and Cherubini in his post-match interviews after Lyon, praising them for the work done this season.
