Juventus, Fiorentina, Newcastle, Liverpool: January’s highest spending clubs revealed

Juventus and Fiorentina were among the highest spending clubs in Europe during the January transfer window, but Newcastle United were the club that invested the most.

Juventus and Fiorentina were somehow strongly connected in the winter transfer window as the Old Lady signed Dusan Vlahovic for €80m, including add-ons.

The Tuscans replaced the 22-year-old with Arthur Cabral from Basel, Krzysztof Piatek from Herta Berlin, and Jonathan Ikoné from Lille.

According to Transfermarkt, the Tuscans invested €28m during the January transfer window, just €1m less than Tottenham, who welcomed both Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur from Juventus.

The centre midfielders has moved to North London on a permanent €19m deal with €6m add-ons, while Kulusevski will remain on loan at Tottenham until June 2023.

Spurs paid €10m for the player’s loan and have an option to buy for €35m.

Aside from Vlahovic, Juventus also signed Denis Zakaria from Borussia Monchengladbach for €4.5m and Federico Gatti for a reported €9-10m fee. The 23-year-old defender will remain on loan at Frosinone until the end of the season.
