The agreement between Juventus and FIGC Prosecutor Giuseppe Chiné means the Old Lady may get away with a hefty fine and a reduced point penalty for the current campaign: here’s what to expect in today’s trial.
The Bianconeri lawyers have reached an agreement with Chiné ahead of a second sporting trial that was supposed to take place on June 15. The proceeding would examine the suspected salary agreements with players and relationships with agents and other clubs.
With the agreement between Juventus and FIGC, the second sporting trial will take place today, Tuesday, May 30, rather than on June 15, so the Bianconeri fans will soon know the new penalty for the club. The trial will take place at 10:30 UK time, 9:30 in Italy.
According to Gazzetta, there are two possible scenarios.
One: Juventus get a hefty fine and a reduced point penalty for the current campaign which would see the Bianconeri finish seventh in Serie A and keep a Conference League placement for next season. Two: The Old Lady only receives a hefty fine and no point penalty.
On the other hand, Il Corriere dello Sport (page 2) claims the point penalty could be valid for next season. In any case, Juventus won’t appeal the FIGC decision due to their agreement with Chiné which, as highlighted by Tuttosport’s printed edition (page 2) somehow confirms the club’s guilt and the wrongdoing of their ex-directors.
It remains to be seen if the Bianconeri will play in Europa or Conference League next season as UEFA are also finalising their own investigation which could end with a ban from European competitions for one or more years for the Serie A giants.
