Ralf Rangnick’s latest criticism of Cristiano Ronaldo is yet another sign that Juventus fans were right to celebrate his move away from Turin last summer.

The Portuguese star forced a move away from the Bianconeri near the end of last summer, and a move to Manchester City seemed to be on the horizon before he eventually returned to Manchester United. Whilst his return to England started well, things have started to slow down now for the 37-year-old.

Rangnick was not afraid to speak out about Ronaldo and the issues with his other forwards, saying recently that “It’s not only about Cristiano Ronaldo. That we should score more goals, it’s obvious. We created enough chances in the last couple of games but we just didn’t score enough goals. This is not only an issue with Cristiano – it’s an issue with other players, especially with the offensive players, we don’t score enough goals.”

It’s no secret that Ronaldo’s contract represented a significant financial burden for Juventus, and his departure in the summer allowed them to make the statement signing of Dusan Vlahovic last month. The Serbian is expected to kick off the post-Ronaldo era in Turin and so far he’s proving his value.

Yes, Ronaldo scored 101 goals in 134 games for Juventus, but he didn’t lift the Champions League trophy wearing black and white, and last year he didn’t even lift the Scudetto. The Portuguese star’s departure from Turin came at the right time for both parties, and now Juventus can continue looking to the future, starting their new cycle with Vlahovic at the helm.

  1. We never should have bought him….I ve been saying that since day 1. We were a team and we always won as a team and Ronaldo destroyed that. How many fouls would we have scored if he wasnt claiming every single one. We basically paid a tone of money for some penalties. Thank god he left….im so happy

  2. Juventus should never have signed Higuain, in my opinion. 90 million on him. then 100 million on CR7 crippled the team financially. So there was no money left for a midfield good enough to supply Ronaldo. But it was also obvious that Ronaldo wasnt quite the same level after he left Real Madrid- how could he be?
So all in all, it was a good time to rid of Ronaldo. He was never going to improve his performances at Man United- just too old.
Time will tell if Juventus can do anything Europe that even comes close to Ronaldos exploits at Real, but they are surely better off with Vlahovic now

  3. Signing Higuain wasn’t bad which weakened Napoli . The race was so tight and Napoli would have won série A at least for ones if he had remained.

  5. Well, it’s no secret that Juve went straight downhill after the signing of Ronaldo.
Losing our grip on Italy (4 straigh back to back doubles) becoming a joke in Europe (UCL)
Losing value on Forbes Top 10 list of Most Value Clubs (going from #9 to completely put of Top 10 because of Ronaldo) etc. etc.
    Thank god that he’s gone

  6. Actually Ronaldo cost Juventus much more than mere money!
He cost us Marotta the architect of Juventus’ success, who upon joining Inter, he built it into a formidable team!
Think back at the press conference when Ronaldo was presented, and on the platform flanking Ronaldo was Paratici and Agnelli, whilst Marotta was sitting in the audience!
This was just a short time before his contract was left to expire, to be replaced with Paratici.
People of Marotta’s expertise are the rarest of breeds!
The difference between Paratici and Marotta is that the former throws money at problems, whilst the latter makes do with pennies, and still succeeds!

  7. Not undertand how you some Juventinis feel such satisfaction writting about ronaldo, he is gonne, we are ok already and he nt destroyed nothing so bad. He is old and he is already strugling in united, but we cant talk bad and have to be proud that best player of all time was wearing our jersey!

  8. He ruins the dynamic of every team. Glad he left and it’s brilliant to watch him finishing off Man Utd too. To many young players suffer when a club buys him, he is expensive and now age is creeping up on him the shirt sales wont be enough to save him.
The guy needs to go back to Portugal and finish his playing days there.
All he is doing at present is ruining is reputation.

  9. He should never have been bought. Strengthening the midfield was more important, it still is our biggest worry. I hate to have to say it but that’s the absolute truth.

  10. Ok, stop it @Jummy. You over-praise that mediocre Marotta. Isn’t he the silly guy who let Verratti slip away to PSG for 12m? The guy who can’t keep Vidal and then replace him with Perreyra and Rincon? The truth is Marotta needs Paratici to get gems like Pogba, Pirlo and Tevez. So stop that praise, man! “People of Marotta’s expertise are the rarest of breeds”… Yuck! I want to puke.

  11. How soon we forget what a great player this man was.Yes overpaid but whose to blame. Who signs the checks. He couldn’t bring Juve the Cup but he knew how to score and was a playmaker as well.
Juve has and will spend any amount to maintain dominance in Italy often with ethical and financial consequences but blame Ronaldo for past failure, he’s the easy spoiled celebrity player who has plenty of silverware. Think about it.

  12. What a load of rubbish did anyway else score a 100 goals for you during that period ???

Yea he’s older but you don’t win thing with one man

    Teams win leagues and competitions

  13. Now that he is on a goal drought, all of you are writing crap… the moment he scores and pulls off a win, yeah…he must be the greatest of all time.

Y’all should stop blaming Ronaldo for your failures and move on, this is sounding like a broken record already.

If he does nothing else ever, he would still have left a huge legacy… including back at Juventus lolz!

  14. Insulting Ronaldo is nothing but plain madness, he is a great player and arguably the greatest. Juventus has no right to talk bad about Ronaldo, if you expect a 35 year old man to single handedly lift every trophy for you as a team then you will not make it.. and same with United, Ronaldo alone can’t make things happen, he wanted to go to mancity and they denied him access and today they insult him… Ragnik has no right insulting Ronaldo and if the United owners keep quiet about it then they will never get better.. insulting your legends only make the younger ones demoralized..

  15. Beautiful year they marked without Ronaldo. Humiliated in Serie A, Champions League and without national cups. But the problem was Ronaldo, of course…
