Juventus fans applauded Leo Messi and Kylian Mbappé in their home Champions League match against PSG, honouring the pair like they had done with Cristiano Ronaldo when the Portuguese star scored his famous bicycle kick goal with Real Madrid.

Although the rivalry between PSG and Juventus was very much felt in Turin tonight, Juventus fans had time to appreciate the quality of some of their opponents visiting the Allianz Stadium for the final match of the Champions League Group H.

Leo Messi was applauded when the line-ups were announced before kick-off and his teammate Kylian Mbappé was treated the same way when he broke the deadlock with a stunning solo goal in the first half.

Most Juventus fans remained silent when they saw the ball going past Wojciech Szczesny, but many showed their appreciation for the French striker who had put his side ahead against their team.

That reminded of a similar reactions Juventus fans had when Cristiano Ronaldo scored a legendary bicycle kick goal in Turin in 2017-18, months before his move to the Allianz Stadium.

That time, however, most Juventus fans gave CR7 a proper standing ovation and the Portuguese star thanked them in one of the most memorable scenes in the history of the competition.

Juventus supporters once again showed their sportsmanship in a big Champions League night, although, this time, it is unlikely to see one between Messi or Mbappé sign for the Serie A giants in the near future.

The Bianconeri eventually lost 2-1 and ended a disappointing Champions League campaign, finishing third, level on points with Maccabi Haifa, with just three points in six matches.

  1. Its no matter how good we play or we have cr7 or no, that goalkeeper is of polish second division level 🙂

  2. No shame in that. When you witness your own part time sunday league bush style calcio on a weekly basis, they would cheer if Tranmere Rovers came to town.

  3. From the 19th Century and playing like the 18th Century. Behold dial up Max the 1/6.
