Juventus fans have reacted furiously against Bayern Munich for the ‘disrespect’ shown in their open courtship of Matthijs de Ligt.

The German club held negotiations with both the Bianconeri and De Ligt’s representative, Rafaela Pimenta, during Hasan Salihamidzic’s quick trip to Turin earlier this month.

Today was the presentation of the Bayern Munich squad to fans, during which both directors Oliver Kahn and Salihamidzic spoke to German television and confirmed the discussions.

“We had talks and the player wants to come to FC Bayern,” Kahn told Blickpunkt Sport.

“We’ll have more discussions and then see how it goes.”

Salihamidzic then told Sky Sports Deutschland it was “no secret” there was a meeting in Turin. “We had talks, there will be more.”

This attitude infuriated Juventus supporters online, especially amid reports the offer is €60m including bonuses, a very long way off the €90-100m asking price.

Numerous tweets and Instagram posts from the fans all complain this open discussion of a player belonging to another club shows a “total lack of respect” for Juventus.

“Who does this Kahn think he is, talking about a player registered to another club? Juve should respond, but they won’t, we are a long way off being a top club.”

The general response also was that De Ligt is more than welcome to leave for Bayern, as long as the Old Lady get the right price.

  1. Fußball-Club Bayern München have done nothing wrong. Juventus have bullied smaller clubs within their domestic league for decades. This is just the natural order, rules of the jungle or the laws of physics. Bayern are a bigger predator and much more distinguished club. They are 6 times CL winners and have achieved half in the 21st Century. Juventus have only got themselves into this mess. Chiellini was retiring and they should have gauged the landscape with the Dutch Phil Jones. Instead they are doing a last minute Ronaldo, and will have to accept a lower fee, or an even more disgruntled defender. Imagine if he stays and how many hand ball penalties he will give away. If anything the Juve tifosi should be more angry at their club. They have so far only picked up elderly free scraps and none of the key areas have been addressed, as they cannot sell their caviar lol.

  2. Juve living rent free in LORDs head, commenting on every single article with whatever his mental visions show him when his meds wear off

  3. But Marco you called him out. What is wrong with the content? Bayern Munich are factually a more successful club. The whole idea of De Ligt was to build for the future. With GC gone, it is really bad to be tearing up the defence and not preparing adequately.

They hold all the cards as they have the more money, De Ligt wants to go and play for them and you cannot keep a player against his wishes in todays game.

If they do not get him now, they will get him for free but expect more clubs from England and Spain to line up if he winds down his contract.

  4. Business is business at the end of the day. If they want to come with a low offer, we have done the right thing and told them to make a proper offer. I am surprised that PSG have not come into the conversation as they want to bring in a new centre back. I have to admit Hasan maybe could have been more discreet about this affair considering he once played and wore our colours.

  5. LORD dude needs to make some friends to talk about football with or at the very least, fellow Inter Milan fans (as long as he uses words with no more than 2 syllables) instead of writing essays here like some jealous ex

  6. LMAO Gibbie Smalls put a B instead of the G. Crazy thing is he actually talked about football, whereas you see the red lights in your head and join in with the hating of another user. To the football part, De Ligt is leaving one way or another. If the price is not reached, both clubs will agree on a compromise. It is either that or he stays. That leaves two options. Extend and the release clause is lowered to around 80 Million Euros I think, or he can walk away for nothing in 2024.

  7. @Steve: Depends how you measure success. Just the number of CL titles won? Then yes, you are right. But there’s so much more to success than that. National league, overall international titles, contribution to national team, history, to name a few. So whether you play for Bayern, Liverpool, Juve, Real Madrid etc. doesn’t really matter. You’re at one of the biggest clubs in the world either way with each club having different strengths and weaknesses. @topic: bye de ligt, nobody’s gonna miss you!

  8. Stop crying – pathetic fans, bayern have every right to make that statement as its true.

fans these days are just a joke

  9. @Romanzo1897, respectfully I disagree on the Champions League part. European competition is the ultimate measuring stick for all elite club teams to see just how good the football is between different leagues. That is why its so difficult to win it and even money has not helped PSG and Manchester City achieve it. There is a difference between Real Madrid, Bayern and Liverpool. Those clubs have a history of winning and if not at least being in the mix to actually compete. Juventus have a bad habit of falling way too short. Liverpool gave Klopp time and he had a vision. The same goes for Bayern who just plan better. Money helps but when was the last time Juventus had a complete team? The team is always disjointed in one area or another. It is easy to identify that the midfield is the biggest issue and has been for a few years.

  10. @Jeremy: Let’s agree to disagree then 🙂 I respect your opinion, I just see things differently. I’m not looking for any excuses here either, as a Juventino I’m the first one to admit that “we” shouldn’t have lost that many finals. To be honest, that unhealthy CL obsession has become a thing over the past couple of decades. I grew up watching football at a time when everything was way less one-sided than nowadays. I witnessed UEFA Cup finals that were superior to CL finals. I witnessed times where it was way harder to win the Scudetto than any other title. I may be too young to have seen the first couple of finals but back then, Real won against amateurs. Different times, different attitudes. All I’m saying is that numbers don’t tell the whole story. Juve is an elite club with flaws. Like any other elite club out there 🙂

  11. @Jeremy, respect. We can look to the past but more importantly it is what we are doing now and how we go forward. I think we have a chance with the Scudetto but I think some people need to be honest. I totally agree with you in regards to the midfield. Looking at the numbers from last year there is no quick solution. We lacked goals and in part because we had no supply line. Even more worrying for us was the defence. I have always been a believer that you build from the back. With that many goals leaked, it is not looking good at the back. We lost a pillar and De Ligt is very likely to move on. Bonucci is getting old and will not be able to play every game. It is not just about 2 replacements but moreover 3 and Rugani is an enigma. Forget about Europe. We are light years behind, but still Forza Juve.

  12. Three main reasons why de ligt wants to join bayern
    1. Serie A getting more competitve with milan and inter, harder to win title, bayern is easier
    2. Juve is not giving pay raise
    3. Wants to get new learning experience to improve

everyone is looking for better pay, better learning, better chance in winning. if juve can win title and CL this year, he will quickly sign extension with Juve. Who wants to leave a winning club but no pay raise is an issue itself LOL. Juve can be surprise package this year with the new signings and chiesa back 🙂

  13. Anyone upset by Bayern low offer or Bayern talking about a player currently under contract, please tell me how it differs from the Zaniolo situation?

  14. mohammed

Did you finally figure out how depreciation of value works? If not (and I know you didn’t crack this one), then sit quite and let the big boys talk.

  15. forzaroma

Simple. Roma want minimum 40M, 50M ideally for a guy that is injury prone. Juventus offer this money, but want players in the deal included. The difference is that Juve are willing to meet Roma’s asking price, while Bayern want a 50% discount on the 120M release clause

  16. Simple guys – De Ligt came to Juve because he idolized Ronaldo. CR7 is gone and the club’s performances are below expectations so now he’s onto a new project.

  17. 60 million is very far away from a 100 every other team sets a price and you discuss it but an evaluation and market price is usually what it takes to get it done they are too far away from the price Chelsea’s offers pulisic or Werner plus 55-60 million was a lot more acceptable and at this point if deligt wants to leave and disrespect the club don’t make it easy it’s not up to him sell him to whichever team gives us juventus the best offer and bye let him make his deal with whom ever juve decides bye bye

  18. @forzaroma the difference is no Juve director said to the press that they had spoken with Zaniolo, and that he wants to join Juve. Even if it was true, you never talk like that about a player from another club. You also don’t see Marotta saying in public that Bremer wants to join them (even though it’s a known secret he will wants to). But it would be disrespectful against Torino if he said it publicly.

  19. @mohammed
Actually you make the non-wisest comments on Juve related articles
    Think before disrespecting other fans

  20. I’m a Juve fan and I have no idea why you would get angry over this. They can talk to De Ligt all they want, he’s still under contract. You don’t have to take everything as an insult. People need to read more Epictetus or something.

  21. I agee with Jacob.

I didn’t know what the drama was about, then I read the article and this line stood out “We had talks and the player wants to come to FC Bayern”.

    Unprofessional.
