Juventus fans furious as eBay mocks Chiesa injury

Juventus fans vented their irritation at eBay after the company’s official account made a tweet in poor taste referencing Federico Chiesa’s serious injury.

The season is over for the UEFA EURO 2020 winner after he damaged his anterior cruciate ligament during the 4-3 win over Roma last night.

He will have surgery this week and be out of action for circa six months.

While most clubs and fans sent messages of affection and support for Chiesa, eBay decided to make a joke out of the situation.

“Hey Juventus – we’ve got a guy who could do a job on the wing if you’re interested?”

This was seemingly a reference to the promotional campaign Dream Transfer, trying to help set up a legend to play with a Sunday league side for a transfer fee of £5.

The furious response to the tweet from Juventus and in general Italian football supporters was inevitable, as this showed a real lack of respect to one of the most talented young players in the world at the toughest moment of his career so far.

EBay UK realised their error and deleted the tweet, but the damage had been done.
