Nicolo Fagioli is expected to undergo surgery on Saturday to repair the damage to his collarbone after leaving the pitch on a stretcher during Juventus’ Europa League exit at the hands of Sevilla on Thursday night.

The 22-year-old was left on the deck after a strong collision with Nemanja Gudelj after 39 minutes of play at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan with what was reported to be a fractured clavicle.

Fagioli is expected to arrive at Juve’s medical facility later on Friday afternoon to undergo further examinations to assess the extent of the injury, but according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, an operation is a certainty.

The academy graduate had made 37 appearances for the Bianconeri across all competitions over the course of the 2022-23 season, however, it is now definite that his campaign is over.

The aim will be for Fagioli to return to fitness in time for the beginning of Juve’s pre-season training with the hope that he will be able to make a full recovery in time for the start of 2023-24.
