Owen Wijndal has been linked with a possible move to Juventus as they search for a replacement for Alex Sandro but there has been a setback for the Bianconeri.

The Biancocelesti are preparing to rejuvenate their squad in the upcoming summer transfer window and one player likely to depart is the 31-year-old Alex Sandro, whose contract expires with the club in 2023, meaning that a replacement left back is needed.

As highlighted by De Telegraaf, Wijndal has decided to extend his contract with AZ Alkmaar for another year, tying him to the Dutch side until 2024. The reason for this is that it gives his club a little breathing room in negotiations, putting Juventus in a slightly weaker position.

The 22-year-old Dutch left back, who is a AZ Alkmaar youth product, has made 35 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 3033 minutes. In that time, he’s scored one goal and provided 10 assists, continuing to grow and show his potential.
