Lega Serie A’s fixture announcement revealed that Juventus will host Milan on the 20th anniversary of their infamous Champions League final meeting.

On a late May evening in 2003, the two Italian sides faced off at Old Trafford in the most important match in European club football. The two teams both overcame tough opponents in the knock-out stages to book their places in the final, with the Bianconeri securing wins over Barcelona and Real Madrid, whilst the Rossoneri found success against Ajax and intercity rivals Inter.

The final itself was not a particularly memorable one, with the actual play itself producing little to be excited about. It ended in the tensest way possible, however: a penalty shoot-out. Milan held their nerve and came out 3-2 winners, with Andriy Shevchenko scoring the winner past Gianluigi Buffon to secure the Rossoneri’s sixth European Cup.

As announced by Lega Serie A today, Juventus will host Milan on May 28 2023 at the Allianz Stadium in Turin. The first meeting between the two sides will take place on October 9.
