Juventus eye Koulibaly as De Ligt partner, Napoli want €40m – report

Juventus are looking to create a defensive partnership of Kalidou Koulibaly and Matthijs de Ligt, according to reports in Italy.

The Senegal defender appears set to leave Napoli this season with Barcelona also mooted as a potential destination.

Juve are also in the market for a new central defender following the departure of colossus Giorgio Chiellini on a free transfer.

And Gazzetta dello Sport report they are hopeful of signing Koulibaly with Napoli have placed a €40 million asking price on the 30-year-old.

The Bianconeri have recently recouped half of that fee after Atalanta triggered their option to sign defender Merih Demiral permanently for €20m, while the report suggests Napoli are keen on Juve’s Federico Gatti, who recently made his Italy debut.

Barca are keen on Koulibaly but recent reports in Spain suggested the ex-Genk defender’s agent wanted financial guarantees before committing.

Leonardo Bonucci has been named Juve’s new permanent captain following Chiellini’s departure but that reportedly does not mean he is a guaranteed starter.
