‘Juventus evaluate next steps’

Juventus’ lawyer says the club will “analyse carefully” today’s TAR judgement and “evaluate the next steps”.

The Bianconeri had been seeking €444m from the FIGC in compensation for the Calciopoli scandal which saw them relegated to Serie B and stripped of two Scudetti.

However, the Tribunale Amministrativo Regionale in Lazio today rejected their claim, on the basis that it had already been adjudicated.

“Juventus will analyse carefully the motivations for today’s TAR decision and evaluate the next steps to safeguard the club’s interests,” the Old Lady’s lawyer told ANSA.

FIGC President Carlo Tavecchio has previously admitted Juve were “the strongest on the pitch” when they won the 2005 and 2006 Serie A titles.

The Turin club was stripped of those Scudetti after wiretaps revealed that general manager Luciano Moggi had been in regular contact with referee designators.

However, it later emerged that Inter, who were awarded the 2006 title, were also implicated, but the statute of limitations had run out so no trial was brought.

Juventus still claim those Scudetti, counting 34 titles to their name, rather than the official 32.
