Juventus director Cristiano Giuntoli feels Inter are favourite to win the Serie A title but admits ‘things didn’t go as they expected over the last few years’ so they want to ‘share their responsibility’ this season.

Giuntoli spoke to Sky Sport Italia during the Gran Galà del Calcio on Monday night, replying to Inter director Beppe Marotta who had claimed Juventus are the favourite to win the Scudetto this season.

“Marotta is a master to all of us but of course, over the last few years, things didn’t always go as they wanted. They always started as favourites and maybe, this season, they try to share their responsibility,” said Giuntoli.

The Nerazzurri have won four trophies in Simone Inzaghi’s first two seasons at the club but saw Milan and Napoli become Serie A champions in 2022 and 2023 respectively.

“On the other hand, we are aware of our strengths and our target is the top four but surely we don’t prevent our players from dreaming,” Giuntoli added.

Despite their main target being a Champions League placement, Juventus sit second in the table, just two points below their rivals.

“It’s not been long, so we must wait,” Giuntoli insisted.

“We are happy with what the coach, the staff members and the players are doing. We have created a great group but it’s a long path.”

The former Napoli director also replied to a question on contract negotiations with some Juventus players, including Dusan Vlahovic and Adrien Rabiot.

“We are talking to everyone because we want to continue with this group that is giving us great satisfaction,” the Bianconeri director admitted.

“Nobody in particular, but we are building a solid bond with everyone and we are confident they can continue with us in the future.”

Juventus loanee Matias Soulé is thriving on loan at Frosinone having scored six goals in 12 Serie A appearances this season. Will the 20-year-old Argentinean winger return to Turin and play for the Bianconeri in 2024-25?

“Soulé is a very good player, he is doing well which means the program we have outlined is giving its results,” noted Giuntoli.

“We are pleased about it. I don’t know about the future, but surely we hope he can play for Juventus.”
