Sky Sport journalist Fabio Caressa believes Juventus should bring Alex Del Piero back to the club: ‘They desperately need him like Milan needed Paolo Maldini.’

The Bianconeri won just two of their eight games across all competitions, losing both their opening Champions League fixtures for the first time in history.

Max Allegri is under increasing pressure, but questions have been raised over the club’s management and Caressa, one of the most popular journalists in Italy sees Del Piero as a solution to their issues.

“Juventus should use the same solution adopted by Milan with Maldini,” he said as quoted by Tuttomercatoweb.

“Maldini regained their DNA with Maldini and Juve desperately need Del Piero now.

“Juventus need somebody who embodies seriousness, practicality, tranquillity, respect and education.

“The Juventus style has incomprehensibly disappeared in recent years. Allegri has made mistakes, just like the players. Juventus play badly but it is not the team that wants the coach.

“Now their playing style is poor and is not bringing results. Allegri can not convey what he wants and Leonardo Bonucci is the only veteran left and Juventus need more.”

Del Piero left Juventus in 2012 and was no longer on good terms with President Andrea Agnelli, who didn’t offer him a contract extension.

This past April, he returned to the Allianz Stadium to watch a Juventus game for the first time in ten years, sparking speculation of a possible return to the club.

However, Del Piero and club directors have ruled out a potential reunion, while the 2006 Italy World Cup winner continues living in Los Angeles, working as a pundit for Sky Italia.

Maldini returned to Milan in 2018 and, along with Ricky Massara and chief scout Geoffrey Moncada, has built the team that won the first Serie A title in 11 years last season.

  1. I don’t see the value that Del Piero would bring. Morale boost maybe, but he’s not a miracle worker.

  2. Do not bring ADP until the management is sorted out. Otherwise Alex would be made the scapegoat and that would be heartbreaking.

  3. Being a former player and club legend does automatically equate to having the skills to become a top coach or director of football. It’s not all about having a strong affinity with the club, but more so having a clear vision, consistency, good sense and a high degree of competence, qualities which I doubt Nedved and co possess.

  4. Del Piero is a living legend and he does not need to be dragged into the 19th Century Coma Calcio Champagne that this small club of Europe have been addicted to. It is not like Agnelli, the Laramie Sales Girl, Nedved and last but not least PhD Max, will listen to him. That band of borderline illiterates prefer 1-0, 0-0 and 1-1 voyages, where zombie movement is the order of the day. How anyone pays for a ticket to watch the zombified sleep calcio is beyond me. Only gump fate craves more. She has also been very quiet.

  5. we dont need del piero, he cant relate to the current football, hasnt compleetd his coaching badges.

We need a youthful manager and board, the way football going – maybe even a new owner whos richer

  6. “we dont need del piero, he cant relate to the current football, hasnt compleetd his coaching badges.”

You can relate more to the current football than Del Piero. looool. This is comical.
