La Gazzetta dello Sport hits out at Massimiliano Allegri, saying that his Juventus side ‘defend like a small team’ and adding that the Bianconeri looked confused against Fiorentina.

The Bianconeri have earned nine points in the opening five Serie A games following a 1-1 stalemate against Fiorentina on Saturday.

The Tuscans ended the game with 60% ball possession, while the Bianconeri didn’t register a single shot on target in the second half.

Fans have criticised Allegri on social media, but Italian sports papers are not so harsh on the Italian tactician.

The only exception is La Gazzetta dello Sport, which rated the Tuscan tactician 5/10.

“Juventus sat deep like a small team. Is it why they don’t know how to attack or because it’s a request from the boss?” asked Fabio Licari.

“It would be interesting to know. Lots of doubts and a lot of confusion. He [Allegri] ended the game with five defenders.”

Tuttosport rated Allegri 6/10, praising Juventus’ approach and highlighting that the Old Lady could have scored the second goal with Weston McKennie.

However, even the Turin-based paper criticised the Bianconeri for a second half where they didn’t even produce a shot on target.

“Allegri’s Juventus still doesn’t exist,” added Il Corriere dello Sport, rating the Italian tactician 5.5/10.

  1. I watch a lot of Serie A, but I’m not Italian. Can someone explain to me why the Italian media has such a hard time criticizing Allegri? Because I get the feeling that he is treated differently from almost every other coach in the league?

  2. CALMAAA!!!

If there is one team in world football that understands defending its the Buffalo Bills of Europe. PhD Max prefers the opposition to have the ball, packing everyone deep for 90 mins + and escaping with either 1-1 or the preferred 0-0. A legend of 1600 BC calcio champagne, brewed distilled and delivered straight to Turin where the fans crave bus parking for the entire game.

  3. Max should be sacked but the first is Nedved who is responsible for keeping him 2nd season.
    Max is really really outdated

  4. Nedved hates Allegri. He’s not the reason Max is still there. Allegri should be nowhere near a stadium.

  5. Allegri is the worst thing to happen to football.
His type of football should be branded “SLEEP FOOTBALL”. Allegri is a disgrace to modern football.

  6. Getting rid of Allegri is one thing, but what about constructive comments suggesting potential replacements?
