Juventus insist they are not interested in rejoining the European Club Association despite Nasser Al-Khelaifi’s invitation.

Juventus left ECA in 2021 after joining the so-called ‘European Super League’ a project they had contributed to creating alongside La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona. Their former Chairman, Andrea Agnelli, had stepped down as ECA’s President when the Super League was announced and was replaced by PSG’s Al-Khelaifi.

However, the Super League project didn’t last long as, 48 hours after the official announcement, all five Premier League clubs invited withdrawn, followed by Atletico Madrid, Milan and Inter.

Juventus also quit last summer, leaving Real Madrid and Barcelona as the only two clubs still formally involved in the breakaway competition.

However, Juventus still haven’t changed their minds about their involvement in ECA as they are not considering rejoining the European Club Association.

“Juventus FC is not assessing the possibility to rejoin ECA at the moment,” the club’s press office told Reuters in an email.

Juventus’ brief statement came after an informal invitation from ECA and PSG Chairman Al-Khelaifi who had spoken to reporters after an ECA board meeting in Copenhagen on Thursday: “If they [Juventus] stop what they are trying to fight for, which I think is a stupid project, they are always most welcome.

“I spoke to the owner and, you know, he called me and I think they want to be back. They are definitely most welcome,” Al-Khelaifi said.
