Juventus host Sampdoria in the Coppa Italia this evening, but neither side will have the coach on the bench, with some bans going back years coming into play now.
The Round of 16 tie kicks off in Turin at 20.00 GMT and will be decided on the night after 90 minutes, extra time or even penalties.
Curiously, neither team will have the coach on the touchline, in Sampdoriaโs case because Roberto DโAversa was fired yesterday and a new boss has not yet been appointed.
As for Juve, Allegri sits out a touchline ban that is still active from the last Coppa Italia game he had in charge of Juventus in 2019, when eliminated by Atalanta.
As Allegri hasnโt had another Coppa fixture since then, he had to wait until now to take the suspension, so assistant manager Max Landucci will be on the bench.
Curiously, Landucci had never previously had to step in for Allegri until the weekend, when there was a Serie A ban too.
Matthijs de Ligt is suspended in defence after last seasonโs Coppa Italia campaign, but Moise Kean has an even more obscure problem.
The Italy international will sit out a one-match ban that was imposed after his red card for Everton in the Carabao Cup against Huddersfield in August.

Very interesting article. The most WTF of them all is Kean’s suspension.
Ridicilous, how they always find a way to penalise JUve. Even Bans from England are valid in Italy.
