According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus could extend Carlos Alcaraz’s loan for one more season, especially if Southampton fail to earn Premier League promotion.

The Argentinean midfielder joined the Bianconeri on loan with an option to buy in the January transfer window and has made four Serie A appearances, starting one match. He is currently out of action with a hamstring injury but is expected to return to the pitch after the break.

According to Thursday’s printed edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, page three, Juventus are happy with Alcaraz, but it would be too expensive to sign him permanently from Southampton as the Old Lady would need €49.5m to keep him in Turin beyond the summer.

Therefore, they may ask Southampton to extend the player’s loan until the end of the 2024-25 campaign.

It is not yet a concrete scenario, but Juventus will make an attempt at the end of the season, especially if Southampton fail to return to the Premier League.

The Saints currently sit fourth in the Premier League table, nine points below Leicester City, but with a game in hand.
