Reports on Friday morning suggest that Juventus are thinking about offering a new contract to the currently-suspended Nicolo Fagiolo, who received a seven-month ban for his involvement in illegal betting earlier in October.

According to reports on page three of Friday’s Gazzetta dello Sport, Fagioli is still considered to be a strong asset to the Bianconeri, and someone who could be a linchpin in midfield for many years to come.

Fagioli still has over two-and-a-half years remaining on his current contract, which runs until the summer of 2026, however, La Gazzzetta writes that Juventus would ideally like to tie the 22-year-old down for even longer.

Fagioli is not currently able to play for Juve due to his ban, although he is permitted to train with the team and recent reports indicate that he will still be paid while he is suspended.

Formally, Fagioli was handed a 12-month ban, although he will only be banned from playing for seven months. The remaining five will be covered by his treatment and his commitment to making a series of public appearances to dissuade others from falling into the same trap as he did.
