Juan Cuadrado is starting to show his age and could be released in summer, so Juventus are considering alternatives including Thomas Meunier, Alvaro Odriozola, Malo Gusto, Emil Holm and Rick Karsdorp.

The Colombia international will be 35 by the time his contract expires in June 2023 and is finding it increasingly difficult to cover the full right flank under Max Allegri’s 3-5-2 formation.

The rush is therefore on to find someone not just to cover Cuadrado in January, but also to eventually replace him.

La Gazzetta dello Sport outlines a list of names on director Federico Cherubini’s list, including Diogo Dalot, who Manchester United have no intention of losing.

Odriozola would be a good short-term solution, already having Serie A experience with Fiorentina and struggling for any playing time at Real Madrid, so available on loan with option to buy.

Karsdorp certainly brings experience and would be fairly cheap after the total breakdown of his rapport with Roma coach Jose Mourinho.

If it’s an old head that Juve are searching for, then 31-year-old Belgian Meunier could make the loan switch from Borussia Dortmund.

Looking at investments for the future, 22-year-old Holm has impressed this season at Spezia and this week made his senior international debut for Sweden.

Lyon talent Malo Gusto has perhaps too many other clubs already interested and driving up the price-tag, while 18-year-old Valladolid starlet Ivan Fresneda is a little too green.

Some would point out Juventus already splashed €8.8m on signing Andrea Cambiaso from Genoa in the summer and he’s not doing too badly on loan at Bologna.

More of a left-back, but versatile, the 22-year-old was meant to be the future for the Bianconeri.

  1. Solution = Cafu Danilo. A firm favorite of hexagon and a master bricklayer.
