Juventus confirm Alex Sandro injury in training

Alex Sandro

Juventus have provided an update on Alex Sandro after the Brazilian defender suffered an injury in training on Wednesday.

The 32-year-old, who has entered the last year of his contract in Turin, played the full 90 minutes of the Bianconeri’s opening two games of the season, but was left on the bench for their wins over Empoli and Lazio.

Alex Sandro has proven himself a reliable option for Massimiliano Allegri and featured regularly last season, seeing over 2600 minutes of action across 37 total appearances. He was linked with moves away from Juventus in the summer, but a transfer failed to ultimately materialise.

As announced today, Alex Sandro underwent a round of medical tests today after suffering an injury in a training session. He was diagnosed with a medium grade injury to his left hamstring, forcing him to the sidelines for up to six weeks. He’ll be reassessed in 15 days.

The 32-year-old missed a handful of games last season with a hamstring injury but managed to see regular playing time after his recovery.
