According to multiple reports in Italy, Paulo Dybala has reached an agreement to extend with Juventus, but his agent Jorge Antun has returned to Argentina and Max Allegri said the club and the striker ‘are still in talks.’

Dybala’s current €7m-a-year contract expires at the end of the season, but the two parties had reportedly reached an agreement a few months ago, with the Argentinean’s signature considered ‘the only thing missing’ to finalise the deal.

Dybala had reportedly agreed to sign a €10m-a-year deal until 2026 including bonuses and when his agent arrived in Turin last week, many imagined La Joya would finally sign a contract extension.

However, Antun has already returned to Argentina and Dybala hasn’t yet extended his stay in Turin by signing a new contract.

Tuttosport and La Gazzetta dello Sport mention bureaucratic issues that convinced both parties to postpone the signature to January.

During today’s press conference, Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri provided an update on the striker’s future.

“I haven’t talked to the club about his contract extension,” the coach admitted.

“I know there was a meeting with his agent a few days ago, I don’t know the latest developments. I think they are in talks and it’s normal at this stage. It’s a big contract. Juventus have invested a lot on Dybala.”

“I think the club has other things to sort out right now,” Dybala said at the beginning of December.

“The contract renewal can wait. What’s happening elsewhere is more important.”

The striker hasn’t yet signed a new deal and, on paper, he will be free to talk to any other club without Juventus’ consent in two weeks, leaving Turin as a free agent in the summer.
