It is no secret that Juventus are struggling in attack this season, but a new statistical analysis shows nobody in Serie A or in Europe’s top five leagues completes fewer of their passes in the final third than Max Allegri’s side.

The Bianconeri have managed only two wins, four draws and a 1-0 defeat to Monza so far this season in the top flight.

The biggest worry is upfront, as they have scored only nine goals and conceded five.

Allegri has been criticised for his playing style, which often leaves Dusan Vlahovic painfully isolated upfront, but now the statistics make it clear quite how bad the situation is for the Serbian striker.

Opta calculated that nobody in Serie A made fewer of their completed passes in the final third than Juventus this season, just 18 per cent of their passes in this area of the field.

Worryingly, this is also the lowest percentage of attacking passes in Europe’s top five leagues.

Juve’s 18 per cent is only equalled by Atletico Madrid and Almeria in La Liga, plus Bournemouth in the Premier League.

The sides that complete the most passes in the Serie A attacking third are Fiorentina and Verona with 29 per cent.

  1. CALMAAA!!!

The only thing that matters is the ball going in the back, back, down, down. PhD Max is a genius and the completion rate in their own half is the result of 1600 BC hard work that has paid off. Students that have graduated with top honors include Roberto King Carlos Sandro.

  2. Lord Allegri Saint Patron has spoken. The leader of the peasants of this world. He never backs backs down down. Always offensive unlike Allegri. You tell em.

  3. This article is nonsense. We had one shot on target in the game against Monza. Max’s methods are cleraly working and we rare improving!!! Need another 2 years before we can eleveate the team to have 2 shots on target…
