Just as Juventus and PSG were drawn in the same Champions League group, negotiations were reaching an advanced stage to move Leandro Paredes to Turin.

The two clubs have representatives in Istanbul for the 2022-23 Champions League group stage draw and will no doubt be discussing transfer matters too.

They are both in Group H with Maccabi Haifa of Israel and Portugal’s Benfica.

Meanwhile, at the same moment, Juventus directors were also advancing the negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain for Paredes.

According to multiple sources including Sportitalia, La Gazzetta dello Sport and Sky Sport Italia, the deal is imminent and Paredes could be in Turin over the weekend.

After months of talks, PSG are now prepared to let Paredes leave on loan with an obligation to buy under certain circumstances.

He would be the second player to move from Paris Saint-Germain to Juventus this summer, joining his good friend Angel Di Maria, who was able to negotiate himself as a free agent.

Paredes is no stranger to Serie A, of course, having already played for Roma and Empoli before leaving for Zenit St Petersburg in 2017.

The Argentina international is under contract in Paris until June 2024.

Because Juventus have cut costs on their striker, getting Arkadiusz Milik on loan from Olympique Marseille, they can therefore afford to pay the €7.5m per season salary that Paredes commands.

3 thought on “Juventus close on Paredes after PSG Champions League draw”
  1. The actual big boys of Europe are shaking with fear. I am sure PhD Max will pack everyone into the trenches even against Maccabi Haifa. What a club showing the world that they can compete for the highest honors.

  2. Sorry Fatecisognare, lord is right, allegri will be too cowardly as per usual. Finishing top of the group counts for nothing if you go out at the next stage.
