Juventus close on Kostic and Depay amid Barcelona crisis

Juventus are reportedly closing in on both Eintracht Frankfurt winger Filip Kostic and Barcelona striker Memphis Depay, as the Blaugrana are in a financial crisis and not allowed to register their new players.

Kostic started the opening Bundesliga match of the season this evening, but it won’t have helped his desire to remain considering they lost 6-1 at home to Bayern Munich.

He is on the verge of a move to Juve for circa €15m plus bonuses, after the first offer of €12m plus €3m in add-ons was rejected.

According to Tuttomercatoweb and Sportitalia pundit Tancredi Palmeri, Juve have also been offered Depay at a cut-price deal from Barcelona.

This is because the Blaugrana desperately need to get him off their books and are almost ready to let him go for free.

Today it was reported that LaLiga warned Barcelona they cannot register their new summer signings until lowering the wage bill, which has burst straight through the salary cap.

Depay is only under contract until June 2023, so there were also suggestions he could terminate his contract early by mutual consent.
