Juventus announced several players have changed their shirt numbers, including Samuel Iling Junior and Kaio Jorge, but it is Nicolò Fagioli drawing the most attention.

The Bianconeri begin their season this weekend and confirmed some adjustments in the squad.

Iling Junior switches to Number 17 and Filip Kostic goes to 11, while Kaio Jorge is now Number 26.

The eyebrows are being raised by news that Fagioli will be wearing the Number 21 shirt this season, a big change from his previous 44.

This is an important number in the recent history of the club, as 21 was worn by the likes of Andrea Pirlo and Paulo Dybala.

Going even further back, it was also the shirt given to Zinedine Zidane and Lilian Thuram.

Fagioli is a 22-year-old midfielder and has been in their youth academy since 2015.

He spent the 2021-22 season on loan at Cremonese and returned to base, where he had some impressive performances.

This shirt is seen as a sign of the faith Juve have in Fagioli to grow into a key player.
