Juventus are set to put all their resources into signing Sergej Milinkovic-Savic from Lazio, selling Adrien Rabiot to raise funds, claim La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The midfielder has long been a transfer target for the Bianconeri, going back many years, but the Aquile have always been hesitant to sell, especially to a direct Serie A rival.

The situation is shifting because his contract is due to expire in June 2024 and negotiations for an extension have hit problems.

Gazzetta dello Sport claim that director Federico Cherubini met with agent Mateja Kezman after the Serie A match between Juventus and Lazio in Turin.

It is claimed that Juve would sell Rabiot in January to both raise funds and free up some figures from the wage bill to allow for Milinkovic-Savic’s arrival.

They had already tried to sell Rabiot over the summer to Manchester United, but the move collapsed because of the France international’s wage demands.

January is the only option to sell Rabiot, as his contract in Turin is due to expire at the end of this season.

The report also states that Juventus will try to convince Milinkovic-Savic to choose them above other more lucrative proposals, the same tactic that worked on Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic.

  1. They won’t get anything significant for him now when his contract is about to expire, either give him and his greedy mother what they want, or he’ll leave for free the same way he left PSG!
