Juventus have identified Bologna’s Riccardo Calafiori as their first choice to strengthen their defence as Manchester United look to snap up Gleison Bremer this summer.

The Bianconeri are preparing to revitalise their backline at the end of this season, when Alex Sandro and possibly Daniele Rugani will leave on free transfers in the summer. The arrival of Tiago Djalo in January added another body to the defence, but more work is needed in Turin.

In the meantime, Juventus are firmly aware of the interest from Manchester United and other Premier League clubs in Bremer, who arrived for €44m back in July 2022. Despite his long contract, the Old Lady wouldn’t rule out a sale in the summer.

Page 14 of today’s Gazzetta dello Sport details how Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli has highlighted Calafiori as the perfect option to bolster Massimiliano Allegri’s defence in the summer, having sent scouts to watch him play during Bologna’s win over Atalanta on the weekend.

The Rossoblu value Calafiori at around €25-30m and the Bianconeri could look to lower the overall costs by including a player or two in the deal, like Facundo Gonzalez. Talks between the two clubs are expected to be opened closer to the summer.
