The long-awaited summit between Juventus and Sassuolo for Manuel Locatelli is taking place at a secret location, as the clubs edge closer to an agreement.

It was known that the crunch meeting would be after lunch today, with some of the top representatives from both sides sitting down at the table for discussions.

They were expected to hold this encounter at Juve’s Continassa training ground, but instead reporters maintain it’s in a secret location far from prying eyes.

Nonetheless, Sky Sport Italia maintain they are trying to whittle down the final details to reach an agreement for Locatelli’s transfer.

Some of the sticking points still are financial, with €32m on offer compared to the lowered €35m asking price, and that would include bonuses.

Another concern is that payment schedule, with Juve wanting it to be a two-year loan with option to buy, whereas Sassuolo are demanding a one-season loan with obligation to make the move permanent next summer.

Locatelli has made it absolutely clear he only wants the Old Lady for his future, but Sassuolo have already been forced to reject a €40m proposal from Arsenal due to the player’s wishes and won’t give any more discounts.

  1. If you need to hold ‘secret’ talks to sign a good, but not amazing, player then there’s probably something dodgy going on. Juve trying to cook-the-books so that it looks like they’re meeting financial oligations so they can spend the ‘real’ money on someone else.

  2. If they are looking to spend the ‘real money’ on someone else, they most likely would have done it by now. The season starts next week. Juve need a midfielder and since this Locatelli transfer appears to be dragging on and on, it would suggest that may be Juve’s only target.
