Juventus and Barcelona could rewind Arthur-Pjanic exchange

Reports are growing that Juventus have offered Arthur Melo back to Barcelona, so in theory Miralem Pjanic could return to Turin and undo the disastrous swap deal.

The players exchanged places in September 2020 in a move that made absolutely nobody happy in the long run.

Pjanic was sold to Barcelona at a value of €60m plus €16m cash plus bonuses to reach the €82m valuation given to Arthur.

Both midfielders failed to make an impact at their new clubs and struggled badly with confidence, ending up on the bench.

Pjanic was sent out on loan to Besiktas in the 2021-22 campaign, while Juve tried and failed to sell Arthur to Arsenal in January.

Fearing they might be stuck with the Brazilian, reports are growing on Tuttomercatoweb and Barcelona transfer specialist Reshad Rahman that Arthur was offered back to the Blaugrana.

In order to lower the costs of the operation and get a ready-made replacement, it’s entirely possible Barca could propose Pjanic as part of the deal, effectively undoing the original transfer.

While Max Allegri has always been a fan of Pjanic, new Barcelona boss Xavi is an admirer of Arthur.
