Juventus boss Max Allegri congratulates Daniele Orsato and Carlo Ancelotti after Real Madrid vs. Manchester City: ‘Carlo wasn’t seen as a fashionable coach, but trends are transitory and the classic remains.’

During his pre-match press conference ahead of tomorrow’s Serie A clash against Genoa, Allegri was asked his thoughts on the second leg of the Champions League semis between Real Madrid and Manchester City that saw the Merengues win 3-1 to qualify for the Final against Liverpool.

“It was a marvellous game. First of all, I want to compliment Orsato, he handled the game with personality. To me, he is the best referee,” said Allegri.

The Italian had awarded a clear penalty kick to Real Madrid in extra time. Karim Benzema converted it, sending the La Liga giants to the Final.

“Real Madrid proved that games never end. Character and personality make the difference, like technique and physical strength,” Allegri continued.

“Juventus have reached the Final twice in the last 10 years. Of course, we have changed a lot and we can’t always obtain the same results.

“I’ve said it many times. Six teams are much stronger than others: Real Madrid, PSG, Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool. We always have the ambition to reach the Final, but the reality is different. If one accepts reality, then it’s easier to do better. It must motivate us to return to specific standards.

Allegri: ‘I won against Vlahovic, Miretti will play tomorrow’

“I compliment Carlo, he has done something extraordinary. He has been criticised despite all the trophies he has won, he wasn’t seen as a fashionable coach, but as I always say, trends are transitory, but the classic remains.

“Like blue or grey suits. Ancelotti is a classic coach and has proved so much in his career. He has won five titles in five different leagues. One can only congratulate him.”

Ancelotti has become the first coach to reach the Champions League Final five times. Allegri has managed two so far, but has lost both against Barcelona (2015) and Real Madrid (2017).

Juventus have already snatched a top-four finish with three games to spare and both the Old Lady and Inter will play their Serie A fixtures tomorrow ahead of next week’s Coppa Italia Final. The Stadio Olimpico clash is Juventus’ last chance to win a trophy this season. The last time they ended a campaign empty-handed was in 2010-11 under Luigi Delneri.

  1. Vini JR, Rodrygo would still be playing on the beaches of Brasil if PhD Max ever had a dossier on them and Camavinga would need to learn the back, back, down, down. Full debut at 35 years young lol.

  2. Besides Anceloti legendry, we have italian coaches that rise english teams like Chelsea, Manchester City and Leister.
Thanks to Mancini, De Canio and the humble Ranieri. Forza Italia.

  3. @Fatecisognare, are you seriously comparing an exception like Di Matteo to Ancelotti ???!!
Di Matteo took over at the second leg of the Napoli match in round of 16 after Villas-Boas was sacked!
Also, Chelsea did not win by luck. They beat a strong Napoli (of Mazzarri), Barca & Bayern in Germany. Enough with this bs..
    .
And what exactly did Matteo achieve after winning the CL ? and were is Di Matteo now ?

Ancelotti is now the most successful manager in CL history with 3 trophies from 5 finals and 3 semis across 4 decades !!!

This is why everyone from Allegri, Capello, Sacchi, etc. can’t help but compliment him.

  4. I am a Juve fan and I hope one day Juve players and the whole entity can have Real Madrid’s heart to play en CL.

  5. “Six teams are much stronger than others” So sad that no Italian teams are on that list which includes England, Spain, Germany and according to Allegri, France now, PSG. Actually I want Allegri to explain why he thinks its normal that PSG should be on that list and not Juve. The reality is that Carlo has won it 3 times and you 0. You supposedly had the chance to coach RM but probably didn’t have the balls. Carlo has the chance to now make it 4 while you will continue with the “normal” and “expected” 0 at your Juve. Please don’t tell us how you and him are similar. He’s a winner and your a stronzo who’s good at convincing people that its normal and expected to be a stronzo instead of being a winner.

  6. Gman… Any stronzo would know the difference. PSG has Messi, Mbappe and Neymar up front. Juve had Morata and Dybala until very recently. And let’s not go there with the midfield. That’s all he needs to say.

  7. Juventus what ever you do don’t buy zaniolo at least until his 28 ,29 or don’t buy at all , the boy has some talent ,but his not as good as the media say , but with raspadori yes absolutely buy that guy, zaniolo is so over hyped I would even buy Raspadori castroveli ahead of him “if Juventus must buy Italian” which Juventus should do . Wisdom in the transfer market is what real madrid have.
