A new chapter of Paulo Dybala’s contract saga begins today with his agent Jorge Antun expected to meet the Old Lady’s directors in the morning.
Dybala has yet to commit his future at Juventus as his contract in Turin expires at the end of the season. His agent Jorge Antun arrived in Italy a few weeks ago, but the club postponed a meeting that was supposed to take place last week.
Dybala had agreed to a contract extension at the end of 2021 but the €10m-a-year offer made by Juventus is no longer on the table.
“True, we had reached an agreement, but things changed,” Juventus CEO Maurizio Arrivabene confirmed last week.
“We had a €400m cash injection which was needed to fix the balance sheet, not for the market. We made new assessments based on four factors: technical aspect, number of appearances, contract length and economic value of a single footballer.
“It wasn’t the day before, that’s what the media said. We decided to postpone the meeting because the coach wanted the team to be focused on the pitch. Nothing is decided yet, let’s see what happens.”
Juventus representatives will meet Antun today at around 11 am local time, Football Italia understands. It’s still unclear where the two parties will meet, but Juventus will make a lower offer than €10m per season.
The striker could be offered the same €7m salary that he is currently getting in Turin.
Dybala has been struggling with injuries this season missing 15 games due to physical issues. He started his first game in over a month yesterday, scoring the opener in a home 2-0 win victory over Salernitana at the Allianz Stadium.
He isn’t even worth that salary considering his injuries.
Rubes only competition for his signature is inter, who are broke as well. Going to inter probably isn’t very appealing anymore either considering they have thrown away the scudetto.
