Lorenzo Bettoni at the Allianz Stadium analyses Juventus‘ 1-0 win over Udinese, inspired by Federico Chiesa, Danilo and Leandro Paredes.

Solid Old Lady

Max Allegri’s Juventus are not spectacular, that’s for sure, but thanks to their solidity they’ve been able to climb the table, going moving just four points below Napoli, although the Partenopei have a game in hand. The victory against Udinese was their eighth in a row without conceding. The Bianconeri have found organisation and solidity regardless of who plays at the back. Today, Daniele Rugani was the only natural central defender, but the Old Lady didn’t risk anything, securing a late but deserved victory.

Crucial substitutions

Federico Chiesa and Leandro Paredes inspired Juventus’ victory. They were both introduced in the second half. Paredes found Chiesa inside the box with a lovely chip pass, the Italian winger controlled the ball with his chest and passed it quickly to Danilo, who put it inside an empty net. Substitutions were once again decisive for Max Allegri who always has a plan B, leaving two-three players on the bench, knowing they will be useful in the second part of the match.

Rabiot is Juventus’ best midfielder now

The France international took some time to settle in Turin, but is now the best midfielder in Allegri’s team. There’s no doubt about it. He has everything you want to see in a midfielder: technique, vision and physical strength. It’s no surprise that Allegri is desperate to extend his contract, but whether the club will manage to meet his expectations is another story.

Top

Danilo – Match winner and always tidy at the back. No surprise Juventus want to extend his contract.

Federico Chiesa – Immediate impact. He started on the right and then moved on the left from where he delivered the assist for the winner.

Daniele Rugani – Having already mentioned Rabiot, Rugani also deserves to be included among the best performers of the day. Was always focused and came close to scoring in the first half.

Flop

Weston McKennie – Too slow on the ball, both as a right wing-back and as a central midfielder.

Isaac Success – A few good touches here and there, but he was never really dangerous.

Kingsley Ehizibue – Replaced Success and was supposed to help Udinese defensively, but lost possession too many times and eventually his side capitulated.
