Juventus director Pavel Nedved says his side want to take their place in history after they were drawn against Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final.
Nedved was part of the Bianconeri team that defeated a star-studded Madrid in the 2003 semi-final and he is excited by the prospect of another clash between the sides.
“We want to do something great and historic for Italian football and we will try our best,” he told Sport Mediaset.

Nedved was part of the Bianconeri team that defeated a star-studded Madrid in the 2003 semi-final and he is excited by the prospect of another clash between the sides.
“We want to do something great and historic for Italian football and we will try our best,” he told Sport Mediaset.
“We will go and play our own game fairly and do our part, we want to enjoy it. We weren’t expecting to be 15 points clear in the league, in the semi-final of the Champions League and in the Coppa Italia final.”
Real Madrid are the defending champions and are aiming to become the first team ever to retain the trophy, but Nedved dismissed the Bianconeri’s underdog tag.
“It’s crazy to talk about the opposition being better. We must play the same way we always have, we have a chance and they will be two fantastic matches.”
He also compared the draw to the situation his side faced in 2003, when the Bianconeri pulled off a stunning 4-3 aggregate win thanks to Nedved’s third goal at the Stadio Delle Alpi.
“That was a stellar side with Zinedine Zidane, Fernando Hierro, Roberto Carlos and Raul. Like today, we weren’t favourites then, but we are competitive. We know they have some superstars, but we mustn’t fear them.
“The road to the final is still long. Real are amongst the strongest teams in the world, but we will try our best.
“It would be important to have Paul Pogba and Kwadwoh Asamoah back, but we have a strong squad and we can continue as we are.”
