According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Ireland defender Jake O’Brien is being monitored by Juventus, but the Old Lady can sign both the 22-year-old and Riccardo Calafiori only if Gleison Bremer leaves.
Juventus are interested in Lyon’s centre-back O’Brien even if their priority target to strengthen their defence in 2024-25 remains Riccardo Calafiori.
The pink paper reports the Old Lady can sign both centre-backs only if Bremer leaves.
Juventus target Ireland defender, but Man Utd may fail to convince Bremer
The Brazilian centre-back has a €60m clause included in his contract. Although it will be valid from the summer of 2025, there is a ‘gentlemen’s agreement’ between the two parties which would allow the defender to leave if the club receive a similar offer this summer.
Manchester United are long-time admirers of Bremer, but the Red Devils won’t play in the Champions League this season, and according to Gazzetta, this could convince the 27-year-old to remain in Turin beyond the summer.
This doesn’t mean he will surely stay at Juventus as Manchester United may still tempt the ex-Torino defender while other clubs could show interest in the Brazilian star as well.
