As Leonardo Bonucci faces a potential three years and six months on the sidelines in the betting trial, Juventus step up their bid to sign Salvatore Bocchetti.

Bonucci is part of the same betting trial that could suspend Coach Antonio Conte for 15 months, but this is due to the defender’s time at Bari.

It seems unlikely that Bonucci will avoid a ban of some kind, so Juve are stepping up their efforts to bring in a replacement.

The main target is Rubin Kazan’s Italian international Bocchetti and, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, he’d be available for €6m.

That figure could be further reduced by including Swiss international Reto Ziegler as part of the exchange.

Another option is Federico Peluso, who has already worked with Conte at Atalanta and can cover several different roles in defence.

Juve would like Peluso on loan with the option to buy, whereas Atalanta prefer a permanent sale worth €5m.
