Former Juventus striker Fabrizio Ravanelli doesn’t think a front three of Carlos Tevez, Alvaro Morata and Fernando Llorente would work.
‘The White Feather’ responded to suggestions that Massimiliano Allegri would deploy Tevez in a trequartista role, should the Coach continue with the 4-3-1-2 formation which the Bianconeri deployed against Olympiacos.
In his time in Turin, Ravanelli played in a similar system, with Alessandro Del Piero playing just off him and Gianluca Vialli.
However, the former Middlesbrough man doesn’t think the same rules can be applied to a trio of Tevez, Llorente and Morata.
“I think it would be very difficult to find balance with those three all on the field,” Ravanelli explained to Tuttosport.
“It’s one thing to see Juventus use those three for half-an-hour while chasing a result, but it’s quite another to play that way from the start.
“With an attacking player like Lavezzi, who is also willing to help out defensively it would be different, but Tevez, Morata and Llorente – although they all have different characteristics – are out-and-out strikers.
“Why could I play with Del Piero and Vialli? We sacrificed a lot for the team. We were the first line of defence, but thanks to the intense physical work we were doing in training we could also be effective in front of goal.
“Our organisation without the ball was perfect, and still an attack consisting of myself, Del Piero and Vialli hasn’t been replicated at Juventus.”
