It’s reported Juventus are dropping out of the Xherdan Shaqiri hunt, targeting only Galatasaray’s Wesley Sneijder.

It’s reported Juventus are dropping out of the Xherdan Shaqiri hunt, targeting only Galatasaray’s Wesley Sneijder.

Juve had been the hot favourites to sign Shaqiri from Bayern Munich earlier this week, on loan with option to buy at the end of the season.

However, Inter and Liverpool dived in with better proposals and Sky Sport Italia now claim the Bianconeri have dropped out of the race entirely.

They feel that Dutch international Sneijder is a more reliable and much cheaper prospect for the trequartista role.

Tuttosport suggests Sneijder is prepared to make the move and has been offered an 18-month contract worth €4.5m.

Juve hope that Sneijder will force Galatasaray’s hand by lodging a protest about their late payment of wages.

That would lower or even remove the €8m asking price the Istanbul club has put on his head.

Sneijder is 30 years old, but won the Treble with Juve’s rivals Inter in 2010.
