With Giorgio Chiellini, Leonardo Bonucci and Andrea Barzagli injured, Juventus have asked Parma for Bruno Alves.

Multiple sources including Sky Sport Italia, Sportitalia and more all claim there had already been an approach for the 37-year-old centre-back over the last few days.

However, news that Bonucci will be out for approximately a month with a sprained ankle and this evening Chiellini limping off with another recurrence of his calf issues during the Coppa Italia quarter-final with Atalanta prompted a rethink.

The transfer deadline in Italy is on Thursday evening, so it’s a race against time to bolster the squad.

Martin Caceres has already been picked up from Lazio for €600,000, but he replaced Medhi Benatia, who was sold to Al-Duhail.

Bruno Alves is a Portugal international legend with 96 senior caps for his country and impressed since joining newly-promoted Parma this summer.

It's reported the Ducali want at least €2m to release him mid-season, as they are in negotiations to extend his contract.
