Vincenzo Guerini has revealed that Juan Cuadrado is just ‘details away’ from putting pen to paper on a new Fiorentina contract.

The Colombian winger’s future had been up in the air since the World Cup, with Barcelona and Manchester United frequently reported as the main suitors for his services.

However, since the final weeks of the transfer window the Viola have been in talks on a new contract and today the player’s agent was at the club for final details.

Cuadrado is reported this evening as having also joined the discussions, and is now said to have penned the deal, with an announcement expected imminently.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia on the matter, Fiorentina’s club manager confirmed earlier that progress has been made.

“Cuadrado’s attitude has been exemplary during this process,” Guerini has stipulated today.

“There are [just a few] details [on the new deal]. Both the club and player have expressed a willingness to continue together.

“It’s only fair that he wants to win things. Until two years ago, nobody wanted to join Fiorentina, now the situation has reversed. The club know what to do.”

Reports in Italy suggest that the 26-year-old has agreed a flat salary of €2.5m, plus performance-related bonuses and a buy-out clause of €35m.

The team manager then spoke of his delight with the imminent return of Mario Gomez, who has spent the past three weeks on the sidelines, and the overall performance of Coach Vincenzo Montella.

“Gomez’s return is imminent, but to lose him and Rossi up front wasn’t easy, given that the team has been built for them to play together,” Guerini added.

“They’ve been two big absences. Montella has been a pleasant surprise. He’s brought a breath of fresh air, and I think he was the first Coach to bring such a spectacular type of football to Italy.”
