“Spezia play good football, they have a consolidated identity for the team and some fresh talent, so I expect a very difficult game,” said the coach in his press conference.

“We are short on strikers at the moment, Nikola Kalinic had just part of a training session, so he certainly won’t be ready for tomorrow.

“Eddie Salcedo had two good games, followed by two very bad ones, because he was wiped out. He spent the last week recovering more than training, so I don’t know if he can play. We need Darko Lazovic back to his best, as he can take men on and make the difference.”

Hellas were the surprise of last season, flirting with a place in Europe after promotion from Serie B, but Juric has been eager to downplay their ambitions.

“I want to achieve Serie A safety and try to help both individuals and the team as a unit to improve. I see a very difficult season with many problems to deal with. We must remain fully concentrated and the lads deserve credit for how much they have sacrificed themselves over the last few months.”

Juric was asked about defender Matteo Lovato, who is repeatedly linked with a move to Milan.

“He has great quality and needs to develop them fully, but at this moment, other players give me more guarantees. Matteo is part of the squad and will give his contribution.”
