Juric: ‘Verona doing miracles’

Ivan Juric says Hellas Verona are ‘doing miracles’ and urges the club to make new signings in January.

The Gialloblu suffered a 2-1 home defeat at hands of Inter in the last game of 2020.

“I think we played a good game in the first half, we didn’t concede any goal chance, my lads deserve the praise,” Juric told Sky Sport after the game.

The Gialloblu suffered a 2-1 home defeat at hands of Inter in the last game of 2020.

“I think we played a good game in the first half, we didn’t concede any goal chance, my lads deserve the praise,” Juric told Sky Sport after the game.

“We moved the ball quickly, but we committed some mistakes up front. We know Inter. They have their own style. [Romelu]Lukaku is very strong, they don’t concede many goal chances, they don’t do mistakes and they know what to do,” he added.

“I have to adapt many players in different positions and that’s a massacre. It’s not football and it’s bad for the lads because they could lose self-belief.”

Juric urged the club to make new signings in January.

“I think we need to be realists and say the players we signed in the summer didn’t give us enough. they had an history of injuries and we can’t kill them, we need to do things properly to gain survival and understand the mistakes we did in the transfer window or we risk.

“I don’t want to take any risk, we need to be very careful.

“We made mistakes, we took some things for granted. Not many new players are playing, last summer we sold important players.

“The guys are giving it all, but we need to evaluate what’s going on, we made miracles with players adapted to different roles, we need to intervene properly.

“It happened the same in Genoa on my first Serie A season, they sold many players in January. I don’t want to repeat the same mistakes.”

How many players Hellas need?

“Benassi was supposed to be an important player, but he’s never recovered from an injury. Magnani did well today, but he struggled with injuries over the last couple of seasons, same for Favilli and Kalinic.

“The guys sacrificed themselves, they gave it all, but I don’t want to repeat the same mistakes of the past. I want Verona to improve, it would be a massacre to do six months like this.”
