Ivan Juric insists Torino did not just defend and counter against Napoli and were ‘unlucky’ to lose on that Victor Osimhen goal.

The Granata were decimated by injuries and lost Rolando Mandragora in the opening minutes too.

After Vanja Milinkovic-Savic saved the Lorenzo Insigne penalty and Giovanni Di Lorenzo’s goal was disallowed for a marginal offside, Osimhen eventually towered above defenders to nod in a clearance that Eljif Elmas had charged down.

“We created more scoring opportunities than Napoli, we didn’t just try to hold out and resist under pressure,” the coach assured DAZN.

“It was the right approach we took, the penalty was a naïve error and it’s a pity we lost basically to an unlucky ricochet.

“There were two situations where we were three against two and didn’t make the most of them. I’ve seen we are good for 10-15 minutes at a time, but have huge margin for improvement. Obviously, with Marko Pjaca and Dennis Praet out injured, we’re lacking their quality too.”

Andrea Belotti was back in the side as a substitute for the first time since badly spraining his ankle six weeks ago.

“We’ve got to finish our opportunities better and fortunately now we’ve got Belotti back. I have an idea of how to structure this Torino, but Belotti needs time, because he’s been out for over a month.”
