Ivan Juric was not too concerned following Torino’s difficult 1-0 loss to league leaders Inter this evening.
The Granata fell behind in the 30th minute following a Denzel Dumfries goal, and despite the team’s best efforts, no points could be salvaged at the San Siro.
Speaking to DAZN after the loss to Inter, Juric first discussed his meeting with club president Urbano Cairo, saying ‘we made a summary of the team, of things, trying to understand where we can improve. There are many things that are going well, other things that can be done better. My team is complex to understand well, we have to do things right without damage.’
The Torino coach thought that some reinforcements would help in next month’s transfer window, although he noted that they weren’t required. ‘We’re doing well on the pitch, we’re doing a lot of things well but we need to improve in our handling of the ball, when we find other teams with a 3-5-2 system we find less fluidity.
‘We’re lacking a bit of speed, maybe looking for someone, if there’s a possibility from the market, yes, I’d like to raise the quality a bit. To win against the big teams we need quality.’
Finally, Juric discussed his progress since joining the club in the summer, highlighting that ‘now we’ll see, at the beginning I think I wasn’t understood very much, they come from years in which they made big investments, but with few results. It’s normal to have doubts.
‘Now everyone is happy, we have to do things together. I hope they appreciate what we have done so far, now we have to improve.’
Torino close out the first half of the season with 25 points, sitting in 11th place. The Granata only managed to win two of their last five league outings, losing one and drawing the other two.
Juric’s side sit two points behind 9th place Empoli and they’ll be looking to climb into the top half of the table in the second half of the campaign.
