Torino coach Ivan Juric saw ‘positives and negatives’ after the 4-2 Derby della Mole defeat to Juventus, but tore Nemanja Radonjic apart. ‘He lacks respect for this sport. In six months I have been unable to turn him into a football player.’

The Granata leave this Derby della Mole with so many regrets, having taken the lead after 90 seconds with Yann Karamoh, then again through Antonio Sanabria, only to go into the break at 2-2 with Juan Cuadrado and Danilo equalisers.

Despite having more possession throughout, Juve made the most of set plays to win 4-2 thanks to Gleison Bremer’s header against his old club and Adrien Rabiot meeting a Filip Kostic free kick at the back post.

“This derby leaves me disappointed for the result, but there are real positives from the way we approached the game, and also negatives showing where my team still needs to improve,” Juric told DAZN.

“It was very clear and obvious today, in that we dominated the first half, while the second was tougher and we were distracted on the two goals. It is only right that it ends this way, we do not respect the duties we were given, so we lose the game.”

Juric seemed to be referring to Radonjic, who he blamed for the Bremer goal on a short corner and hauled off just 15 minutes after he had been introduced as a substitute.

Their argument continued on the touchline and the coach was furious with his player.

“I struggle to understand these things, in my view he completely lacks respect for this sport. You have things that you know you need to do, you come on and immediately do the opposite, it means you are not in the game.

“This lad has talent, but evidently in these six months working together I have been unable to turn him into a football player. On a corner, you need to be present and alert. You can do it well or badly, but you must be present. Sometimes we get away with these distractions, but today we were made to pay.”

Torino had been leading twice and also rattled the crossbar, so aside from the Radonjic situation, Juric insists he was pleased.

“I am very happy, we are growing and I saw a team that really played good football today. The first half was exceptional. There are many areas to improve, such as concentration, but also many positives.”
