Ivan Juric insists that it is ‘better’ that Roma lost 5-1 to Fiorentina rather than by a 1-0 margin, because even though the Giallorossi feel at rock bottom, it allows them to build themselves back up properly, the coach implied.

“It’s better this way than losing 1-0 and continuing to piddle along. It’s an important moment for everyone,” the under-pressure Giallorossi coach said during his pre-match press conference on Wednesday.

Reports in the Italian press suggested that Juric could be sacked after the hammering defeat by Fiorentina, just six weeks after he came in to replace Daniele De Rossi, who was given his marching orders four games into the season.

However, Roma have stuck with Juric for now, even if another poor performance against Torino on Thursday could spell the end of his term in charge at the Stadio Olimpico.

Juric insisted during his pre-match press conference that he is not even thinking about being sacked, as he claimed that just serves as a distraction from the work he has to do at the training ground.

Juric also did not deny that there have been harsh words exchanged between the players and staff in recent days, but that doesn’t worry him either.
