Torino coach Ivan Juric blasted President Urbano Cairo, insisting he ‘was not aware the club was in austerity’ and wouldn’t make any investments.
He left Hellas Verona because he saw his star names sold every summer, but found a similar situation in his new job too.
Ahead of tomorrow’s Serie A clash with Fiorentina, Juric vented his frustration on the official Torino channel.
“Fiorentina have taken the route of investment, while we try to cut costs despite the fact this team only just scraped Serie A safety at the last minute for two seasons running,” said Juric.
“It’s legitimate, we lost a lot of money during the pandemic, but the staff and I were not aware that the club was in austerity. I was surprised.
“This is the situation, we didn’t know that when we accepted, but it’s still the most stimulating challenge I’ve ever had.
“It’s a massive challenge, in fact, losing important players, others who got injured and only bringing in new faces on loan.
“This is the situation, I accept it, but I was not aware of it.”
His frustration only grew after bringing in midfielder Tommaso Pobega on loan from Milan.
“Pobega is a good player and will be of use, but it’s not good that we are basically working for other clubs. It’s a dry loan, we don’t have any option to buy.”
