Torino coach Ivan Juric confirms there is growing tension with President Urbano Cairo and it could affect his future at the club. ‘I expected something different.’

The Granata are in the running for European qualification after their victory over Bologna, but the fans continue to stand largely behind Juric rather than the patron.

This week, Cairo stated he “indulged” Juric in everything he wanted, from transfer strategy to improve training facilities, and that they have similar “ambitions,” but the message did not reassure the Croatian.

“I don’t know what to respond. I expected something different,” said Juric in his press conference.

“I do not wish to be indulged, I don’t like that as a word. I want to share a project, think that the things we are doing together are shared and will help the club as a whole to grow.

“I think the staff here are very good at supporting the club, perhaps more than we ought to be in some situations. We like to share ideas and help boost the club financially too. This is how we work.

“The idea I am ‘indulged’ makes it seem like I am asking for something mad and they put up with me. No, we want to share a vision, that is completely different.

“When I arrived a year and a half ago, he told me that we were struggling badly, but now we are able to breathe.”

The situation has been extremely tense ever since the summer, when Juric was caught on camera physically fighting with director of sport Davide Vagnati.

They had been arguing over the transfer strategy and both using insulting words to describe Cairo.

Torino visit Lecce on Sunday with yet more injury problems to deal with, as Koffi Djidji is struggling, while Yann Karamoh has a calf issue and is not even in the squad, joining long-term absentees Nikola Vlasic, Valentin Lazaro, Ronaldo Vieira and David Zima.

Juric confirmed therefore that Ivan Ilic, Karol Linetty and Nemanja Radonjic will be in the starting XI at the Stadio Via del Mare.
